Mayor Senczyszyn

I would like to take this opportunity to address the city of Dearborn. I Zachary A. Senczyszyn have entered the mayoral race. I just want to post this for anyone that may have any questions about any issues or my platform. I promise to be the difference needed to make this good city great!

Zachary-

one question for everyone?

Who in their right mind would give cocaine, heroin, pills, or any other drug for that matter to a 13 yearold girl?

I had the pleasure of meeting this kind girl who so naively did this things while she was 13. If people dont think drugs are a problem in dearborn, shes my prime example for why i want to change the city.

worse night of my life

No one wants to hear about it, but i just want people out there to know as bad as you think your life has gotten, trust me people have worse. Take me for instance: lose the girlfriend; get yelled at by parents for not doing something you may have died doing but did none the less(yes i did it and they still yelled at me); being deathly ill with 103 temp for over a week; and to put the kahbosh on it, all this happend on the same day the first day of mid terms(i failed 3 of them). This is what all lead to last night the worse night of my life.

have a good day = )

Crack housing available

Pictures such as this are what makes living in and near detroit so much fun. I love the fact that if i were to ever become a crack head or straight out loser i would be able to find somewhere to fit in, in houses like this. I as well as the rest of metro detroit i am sure feel the same way.

Response to "Homeplace"

I can relate to the feelings that Hooks felt while walking through the white neighborhood to get to her destination, and i am a white male. When i walk into certain areas of detroit or inkster or even dearborn/dearborn heights, I get looked at as an outsider. Does that make the people that are staring at me "racist"? No not always, people are natturally aware of anything different coming into their area of living. Arabs do it to me in east dearborn, blacks do it to me in detroit, even certain whites do it when i come into an upper class neighborhood, do i label them racist, no. I feel it is unfair how Hooks has labeled the white faces on the porches staring down at her as racists, it is only natural to do this. I also feel that the same idea comes up to many times in the first few pages, reitteration of the idea.

second idea

I have found more ideas of what i can write about, places in dearborn. One that came up was the Ward's building. The next idea i thought of was ford field, a common place for families and festivals to come and make use of the large area of open land and the famous hills. Another idea would be my local park, Ten Eyke. I dont know who i would eb able to interview for any of these, but i would like to know what anyone thinks about my three ideas.

my first place idea

In running for mayor i have come across a town angered by the decision of the former mayor. This town is not currently in the business of real estate, yet, we purchased a building across from city hall that is for all intents and purposes, useless to anyone now. I have not decided yet how i feel about this building but i have found out that it is almost a landmark for dearborn, i may write about it and it's history... the Mongomery Wards building

Nikki's Window

I believe Herron in the essay "Nikki's Window" is trying to show the reader that Detroit, although a rundown, unwanted city, has a history worthy of recognition, as do all cities. He starts off by saying how dirty and awful Detroit is but ends by explaining how underneath the crime and everything bad, Detroit has a rich and very memorable history. Pastness refers to how the city by first glance has not changed very much over the years and still apears as it had in the past. Nostalgia is refering to bringing back a historical feeling to those people who are present in the Greek Town city hall area. Humiliation is talking about the feeling that Herron thinks all people get when thinking about Detroit but i think otherwise, i am very proud of being affiliated with Detroit even through the crime.
